WITC is committed to ensuring the privacy and accuracy of all confidential information. The college does not actively share personal information gathered from Web servers. However, because WITC is a public institution, some information collected from My WITC, including the summary server log information, e-mail sent to My WITC, and information collected from Web-based forms, may be subject to the Open Records Law. This means that while information is not actively shared, in some cases the college may be compelled by law to release information gathered from Web servers.
As part of the college commitment to maintaining the privacy of Web users, WITC has developed this privacy statement. The statement has two purposes:

release of education records other than public directory information,

WITC makes no warranty as to the results that may be obtained from the use of My WITC. You agree that WITC shall not be liable for any direct consequential or incidental damage, whether foreseeable or not, which may result from use of My WITC.
As referenced below, information provided in the course of E-commerce transactions is encrypted. The WITC web site and system have been rendered as secure as possible. However, WITC is unable to guarantee that the security of the system cannot be breached through unauthorized access or use, resulting from extraordinary and unlawful means.

WITC will only collect personal information which you knowingly and voluntarily provide, for example, as a student: sending emails, completing forms, registering for classes, events, or other programs, responding to surveys or ordering merchandise. If you provide us with personal information, we will use this information to respond to your request. We may also contact you to provide information about college activities, programs, membership and development opportunities and special events that may interest you.

You agree that any material obtained through My WITC by download or otherwise is at your own discretion and risk. You agree that WITC is not responsible for the content of the Internet or the worldwide Web pages that are contained outside the College site. As a convenience to members of My WITC, the College may provide links to resources that are beyond College control. WITC makes no representations as to the quality, suitability, functionality or legality of any sites to which it may have provided links. You hereby waive any claim that you may have with respect to such sites.
Security and accuracy of confidential information
WITC does its best to ensure that the personal information retained about individuals is accurate. Every faculty member, staff member and student has the ability to check and update personal information such as his or her name, address, phone, etc. through My WITC.
Although no computer system is 100% secure, WITC has deployed extensive security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under college control.

My WITC may enable users to pay for products or services online with a credit card. Unless otherwise noted, these transactions are encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. The SSL technology helps ensure the private, secure transmission of any personal information that you provide via a Web browser. It is College policy that confidential information entered in the transaction is used only for the purpose described in that transaction, unless an additional use is specifically stated on that site.
WITC does, upon explicit request of users, share information with other parties and gather information from other private data providers. Consistent with FERPA, the college does not release personal student information, other than public directory information, to other parties unless an explicit written authorization is submitted requesting the institution to do so. Students who wish to have their information removed from the campus directory should visit their campus Student Services office.
Except for educational records governed by FERPA, all information collected from My WITC, including the summary server log information, e-mail sent to My WITC, and information collected from Web-based forms, may be made available to requesting parties under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, if the information is not otherwise exempt from public disclosure.

The college logos displayed on My WITC, may be registered and/or unregistered common law trademarks of WITC. The trademarks of third parties may also be displayed on My WITC. Nothing contained in My WITC should be construed as granting, by implication or otherwise, any license or right to use any logos displayed on My WITC without the express written permission of WITC or any third party that may own the logos displayed on the site.
